Bobsweep Review

Bobsweep Review

I wanted to give my girlfriend a very special gift for her birthday this year. I was thinking about buying her a robot vacuum cleaner because I knew how badly she wanted one (I love you Jessica if you are reading this!). I have had a Roomba myself for about 6 months now and think it does an OK job with the cleaning. I knew my girlfriend likes the roomba too, so I went online to see if I can find good deals out there. When I started googling a little, I somehow came across a new brand and a Canadian one called bObsweep. Although I knew I wanted the roomba, the idea of an alternative to a big corporation’s product sounded nice so I clicked on the link. I immediately found the looks of Bobsweep (both the product AND the website) more appealing than the Roomba. Then I started reading more and I was amazed by all the capacities and features Bobsweep comes with. Honestly, bobsweep’s features were too many to believe. I was quite skeptical about the veracity of all the features the website lists, especially because I looked online and could barely find any customer reviews. I sent them an email and asked a couple of questions and they got back to me very promptly and professionally so I felt a bit more reassured. Nevertheless I really had a hard time going for the tempting bObsweep as opposed to the more familiar Roomba. I spent a day or two thinking, especially because I wanted to give my girlfriend something she would like: it was a big risk to buy the bObsweep whereas I was sure she likes the Roomba; but if she does like the Bobsweep, I have given her something more original, and it is more of a surprise. I shared my thoughts with a friend of mine and finally made a decision: I chose the Bobsweep. I thought if anything, Jessica (my girlfriend) can send it back for a refund and use the money to buy a Roomba if she likes. So I did it: I ordered a bObsweep online and it came in the mail 4 days later. I was really curious to open and test it but had to control myself not to open the gift-wrap before Jessica does! (btw, the website had an option to gift-wrap Bobsweep which I did choose).
So the moment arrived and Jessica opened her gift. These where her first words:
“Oh my God! Wait.. what is this? Is this a robotic vacuum?”
“It is!”
“Wow this looks much nicer than a robot vacuum though!”

And she was right! We both fell in love with bobsweep; not just for its performance but for the whole package! It’s hard to explain, but somehow bObsweep makes you trust it immediately when you open its box and in terms of cleaning, your trust is reaffirmed once you see the results.
About a week later we went on Bobsweep’s website to register Bob for the warranty and Jessica suggested that I write a review in my blog for other people out there who are looking for a more practical, more sophisticated and environmentally friendly vacuum cleaner. So I decided to compare and contrast my girl friend’s Bobsweep with my own Roomba:

Unlike the roomba, bobsweep usually detects the obstacles without “touching” them. This lets Bobsweep run into walls and furniture less often and makes it less annoying than Rommba (which only realizes an object exists through an impact).
They pretty much do an equal job of the corners and their batteries seem to last more or less the same. Bobsweep however is much more efficient in vacuuming and sweeping because its main brush is almost two times the size of Roomba’s. So in one pass Bobsweep covers a bigger area than Roomba.

The other noticeable advantage Bobsweep has to Roomba, is its incredibly larger dust compartment.

In terms of navigation they have comparable methods but Bobsweep tends to find its docking station more frequently (although Bobsweep isn’t always successful either and we had it for only about two weeks now which is a small sample).
